It is a white to slightly off-white powder that contains approximately 3% hydroxypropyl methylcellulose and other additives that allow for the powder to be compressed into tablets. The addition of sodium to ascorbic acid may reduce gastrointestinal distress. Humans obtain Vitamin C through a diet containing of citrus fruits, vegetables, and supplementation to maintain core biological functions.
